Coming Back from Spiritual Deadness

What is spiritual deadness?   Here are a few characteristics:

When someone doesn’t sense the Spirit’s work in them

When one wanders from obedience to God and isn’t concerned

When one has no anticipation or joy in their lives for Christ

“To the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God. So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come to you like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.”   Rev. 3:1-3

Here are the keys to battling spiritual deadness:

How to Pray

PRAISE - “Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name...”
Spend time praising God for Who He is.

PETITION - “Thy kingdom come, Thy will Be done, on earth as it is in heaven...”
Ask God to bring His will about in your life, the lives of those around you.
Go into detail about those you pray for, asking God to bring His purposes to it.

PROVISION - “Give us this day, our daily bread…”
Ask God to provide your needs, the needs of your family, your church.
Pray about decisions you make that involve His provision.

PROTECTION - “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
Here, you’re asking God to guard you, protect you and deliver you.
You’re asking for discernment and awareness and wisdom.

PRAISE - “For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  Amen”
We end where we began – praising God and His power, learning to rely on Him.
